Seven Loggers Score Eight or More Points in 84-42 Win Over Lutes

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Loggers double Pacific Lutheran's score, sailing to an 84-42 win over the Lutes.

How it Happened
After a quick start by the Lutes, the Loggers took control and didn't look back. PLU got off to a 5-4 start, but a three by Natalia Sefair-Lopez put the Loggers on top. Autumn Hill and Mele Sake both contributed to the scoring, as another Hill bucket capped off a 9-0 Logger run. A number of Lute free throws brought them within five, but buckets by Grace Lee and Carmen Cruz got the Logs rolling again. Sake, Claire Thompson, and Cayton Smith contributed to a 7-0 run in the final minute of the quarter, as Smith's triple gave the Loggers a 24-11 advantage.

Puget Sound continued to keep their foot on the gas pedal in the second quarter, as back-to-back buckets by Mele Sake put the Logs up 17. Despite a short Lute run, Sefair-Lopez got a tough bucket and a foul, drilling another jumper to spur a 6-0 run. Sake and Smith each hit a shot towards the end of the second, as Savannah Pohl capped off the quarter with a bucket and a free throw in the final two minutes. The Loggers took a 46-28 lead into the break, piecing together two solid quarters in a row.

Cruz drilled a pair of buckets, and Hailey Quiggle got in on the action as well to start the second half. Paige Oh hit a smooth layup and Sefair-Lopez drilled another pair of buckets to put the Loggers up 32. This sparked a 21-0 Logger run, holding the Lutes scoreless until 2:20 remaining in the third quarter. Their defensive press and efficient shooting helped propel them to this run, placing the game out of reach. Thompson and Oh polished off the third quarter, hitting a pair of layups end with a 71-34 advantage.

Oh opened up the fourth quarter with a three, as the Loggers went on cruise control. Pohl drilled a three, Thompson made a layup, and the Loggers were able to seal the deal. A final Pohl bucket wrapped up the Logger scoring, as they take this one, 84-42.
