Baseball Drops Final Game of California Swing to Kingsmen 9-3

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- The Loggers finish up their road trip with a 9-3 loss to California Lutheran, putting up a solid weekend despite the end results.

How it Happened
Charlie Deggeller kept his hot streak going, as he started off the game with a leadoff single. Despite the base runner, the Loggers were unable to produce any runs, as a double play ended the inning. Eric Anthony got his first start on the mound for the Loggers, and despite giving up a run in the first inning, he settled into the game for a scoreless second.

An Ethan Nakamura sac fly gave tied the game up in the top of the third, keeping the Loggers close to the nationally ranked Kingsmen. The bottom of the third is when California Lutheran scored a flurry of runs, as all of a sudden, the Loggers found themselves down 5-1. As they have all season, the Loggers proved their resilience. Kellen Krebs doubled to left field to start the fourth inning, and Armand Lettiere got hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. A wild pitch advanced the two, and Preston Crockett sent Krebs home with a groundout.

After a scoreless bottom of the fourth, the Loggers added another run in the top of the fifth. Travis Ujimori was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, making his way all the way around the horn thanks to a stolen base and two wild pitches. This pulled the Loggers within one, as they continued to pull back into the game.

From there, it was all Kingsmen, as the Loggers couldn't capitalize on runners on base. Cal Lutheran added runs in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings, making the score 9-3 heading into the top of the ninth. Despite a Ryan Tobler single to lead off the inning, a double play and line out capped off the game. The Loggers continue to battle, and look to bounce back as they continue Northwest Conference play.

What Happens Next
The Loggers head to Walla Walla, Wash. to play Whitman next weekend, March 14th and 15th.
