Garcia Homers in Second Straight Day in Doubleheader Loss to George Fox

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Loggers show flashes of success, but ultimately drop both games of their Sunday doubleheader to George Fox.

How it Happened
Game 1
Nyomi Estrada got the nod in the circle following her win in game one of the series, getting off to a solid start early. She had a no-hitter going through the first two innings, leaving no room for the Bruins early. Estrada also got the first hit of the game for either side in the bottom of the first, singling to left center to put a runner on first.

The first runs of the day came in the top of the third inning, as the Bruins put a four-piece on the scoreboard. The Bruins continued to swing the bat, putting up two more in the top of the fourth to make it a 6-0 game. The Loggers weren't done yet, though, immediately striking back in the bottom of the fourth.

Alyssa Waldo singled to get the log rolling, with Estrada moving Waldo to second thanks to a single of her own. A wild pitch moved the runners over, as Elyssa Garcia stepped up to the plate. Garcia hit her second home run of the series, blasting a deep shot to right-center field to cut the deficit in half. She got the pitch she wanted, waiting for a fastball on a 3-1 count to send the ball out of the park.

The Bruins struck back in the top of the fifth inning, putting up another three runs to pull ahead by six yet again. Despite being down, the Loggers didn't give up on the fight. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Jazzy Allen doubled to left field to give the Loggers a runner in scoring position. A Brenna Flannery flyout to center moved Allen over, and a passed ball sent Allen home. Despite the final out being recorded two pitches later, the Loggers made it 9-4 at the end of game one.

Game 2
Lauren Perryman got the start in the circle in game two, putting up a fantastic scoreless first inning. Kayla Lester responded by singling to second base, putting a runner on in the bottom of the first. The Bruins broke the scoring  in the second, making it a 3-0 ball game early. Perryman successfully got out of a jam in the top of the third, showing her resilience in the circle.

The Bruins put up another two runs in the top of the fourth, making it 5-0, but the Loggers hung in there. Waldo, Garcia, and Kylie Tanimura all singled to load the bases in the bottom of the fourth, as Allen came in clutch yet again. She singled through the left side to bring home Waldo, pulling back within four.

Perryman got her third and final strikeout of the day in the top of the fifth, putting up yet another scoreless Bruin inning. Lester got on board for the second time of the day in the bottom of the inning, but the loggers couldn't quite capitalize with two outs. Fox added another run thanks to a solo homer in the sixth, and despite a Tanimura double, the Loggers weren't able to respond. The Bruins tacked the final three runs of the day on in the ninth, as the Loggers dropped game two 9-1.
