Ten Pitchers Saw the Mound in 11-2 Midweek Loss to PLU

TACOMA, Wash. -- In a mid-week game that saw 10 different Logger pitchers, the Loggers ran out of innings in an 11-2 loss to cross-town rival Pacific Lutheran.

How it Happened
Eric Anthony got the start on the mound for the Loggers, as the Lutes got on the board first with a solo home run in the top of the first inning. The Loggers got the bats going early as well, as Ryan Tobler doubled and Armand Lettiere singled to put two runners on the basepads in the bottom of the first. They couldn't send a runner home, as PLU tacked on another four runs in the second and third innings.

Michael Moriarty got the first scoreless inning of the afternoon for the Logger pitching staff, striking out two after placing two runners on base. Lettiere added his second hit of the day in the bottom of the fourth, but the Loggers came up empty yet again. Tobler added his second hit of the day in the bottom of the sixth, but the Lutes kept piling on the runs in the seventh. They added two more to their total, making it 8-0.

The Loggers had some action on the bases in the bottom of the seventh, putting runners on first and second with no outs. Jake Comeaux singled, and Brock Makishima got hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Three straight outs ended the inning, though, as the Loggers couldn't quite push a runner across to score.

The Lutes added three more runs in the ninth, making it an 11-0 ballgame. Puget Sound saved all their runs for the bottom of the ninth, as Comeaux got a hit to lead off the inning. Nate Bateman then stepped up to the plate, hitting his first career home run over the left field wall. These final two runs meant the Loggers didn't go home scoreless, as the game ended 11-2.

What Happens Next
The Loggers take on second-place Linfield for their final home series of the year. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 25th.
