SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Loggers season concludes in the Northwest Conference Tournament, falling to Whitworth 6-0 in the semifinals.
How it Happened
Logger Ace
Charlie Decker got the start on the mound for the Loggers, doing well to limit damage early. Despite giving up a solo home run in the first, Decker escaped a jam with two runners on in the first, and a bases-loaded jam in the third. He got chased out in the fourth inning, though, giving up a total of three runs in his outing.
On the offensive end,
Matt Churchill and
Kellen Krebs both singled to put runners on with no outs in the second. They couldn't capitalize, as the Loggers found themselves down 3-0 after four innings.
Jim O'Brien got hit by a pitch in the top of the fifth, and
Kahiau Teruya worked a one out walk in the top of the sixth. After that, the Loggers weren't able to find the base pads, as the Pirates closed out the game 6-0.
The Loggers finish their season with a 23-17 overall record, including going 14-10 in Northwest Conference Play. They have now gotten to the NWC Tournament in back-to-back years, marking the first and second time in school history that the program has made it to the coveted tournament. They look to continue on their success next season, returning a pair of All-NWC athletes, including first-team sophomore catcher
Matt Churchill. The Loggers will put the work in the offseason, and will be back in action February 2027.
