TACOMA, Wash. -- The Loggers stay undefeated in Northwest Conference play following a 1-1 draw with Pacific Lutheran, playing a solid game against their cross-town rival.
How it Happened
PLU came out firing in the first seven minutes of the game, taking three shots straight off the bat.
Owen Pschigoda got the first caution of the game in the 12th minute, following it up with the first shot on goal in the 14th. He continued to pepper the net, firing another shot a couple minutes later to put pressure on the Lutes' backline. Freshman
Mason Allison got the start in goal for the Loggers, recording his first save of the game in the 24th minute.Â
Rhys Foote and
Charlie Reisman both kept on the pressure with 15 minutes to go in the first half, breaking through the Lutes' backline and forcing two saves. Puget Sound continued to be on the front foot, as several more Loggers continued to fire shots on goal, but to no avail. They forced a total of six saves in the first half.Â
Coming out of halftime scoreless, Foote decided to take matters into his own hands. After firing two shots on goal in the first six minutes following the break, he had an impressive individual effort to secure the first goal of the game. He tracked down a ball deep in the Lute backfield, won possession, and slotted a beautiful shot into the top right corner just out of the goalie's reach.Â
The Lutes responded with a goal of their own in the 62nd minute, setting up a back-and-forth finish. The possession battle began, as the Loggers did well to control the ball and force small errors to break through the Lute defense.
Vinny Self subbed into the game in the 72nd minute, making an immediate impact on the game. He recorded the final three shots of the game for the Loggers, including one on target, but none found the back of the net. The score ended 1-1, with the Loggers taking a point away from the Lutes.Â

The Loggers head to Willamette on Saturday, September 26th. The match is set to begin at 12:00 pm.Â
