Kara Dressel’s third year as the Puget Sound softball head coach was her first true full season with the Loggers. Following that 2022 season, Savanna Smith earned an All-NWC honor, becoming the second Logger in as many years to receive All-NWC recognition (Hailee Ueyama received an All-NWC nod in 2021). The Logger pitching staff posted a 5.87 ERA in 2022, the program’s second-best mark in the past 12 years (5.62 ERA in 2017).

The 2021 Loggers posted a .286 batting average through 32 games, and the team hit .299 in the shortened 11-game 2020 season.

Dressel was no stranger to Puget Sound before taking over the helm in 2019-20. She previously spent five years as an assistant coach with the Loggers (2007-2012). She was also the head assistant coach for College of the Redwoods, where she worked primarily with pitchers.

Dressel guided the Loggers to a solid season in the circle in 2009. Puget Sound posted a 3.90 team ERA, led by Aryn Grause's 3.53 ERA through 73.1 innings. Auriel Sperberg finished that season with a 3.95 ERA through 164.2 innings.

Prior to her return to Puget Sound, Dressel was the head coach at Gig Harbor High School since 2014. She was also involved with coaching at the club level with Lady Narrows Softball.

Dressell received her undergraduate degree from Humboldt State, where she was also a member of its softball team. She completed master's work at Seattle University in the Sports Administration and Leadership program.
