FOREST GROVE, Ore. – An early goal proved to be just enough as the University of Puget Sound men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 match to the host, Pacific. Chris McDonald made seven saves for the Loggers (9-5-5, 6-4-3) to keep the score manageable, but the Loggers could not find the equalizer despite a strong second half.
The match's only goal came at the 16:01 mark when Sean Mills buried a rebound from five yards out. McDonald had just made a save on Jasem Jaihouni's shot, but the rebound unfortunately rolled to Mills to put the Boxers (13-2-3, 9-2-2) up 1-0.
The Loggers came out strong in the second half, outshooting the Boxers 6-5 in the final 45 minutes. However, the Boxers came out strong in the opening half outshooting the Loggers 9-2 for a14-8 advantage in the match.
The Loggers will return home for their season finale on Saturday for a match with Pacific Lutheran at 2:30 p.m.
