SPOKANE,
Wash. – The Puget Sound men's
soccer team earned a draw Saturday night in Spokane, Wash., vs.
Whitworth, 1-1. UPS Is now 5-1-3 on the year and 2-0-1 in NWC play,
while Whitworth is 4-2-1 and 1-1-1.
Senior Kyle Benson (Mukilteo,
Wash.) got the Loggers on the board first with his sixth goal of
the season in the 26th minute. His shot was unassisted
to the top right corner, sending the Loggers into the break with a
1-0 lead.
Whitworth responded in the
second half, tying the game in the 48th minute with a
goal from Travis Gutierrez on an assist by Andrew French off of a
rebound.
The Loggers got an
excellent performance on the night from goalkeeper Chris McDonald, a
sophomore from Newton, Mass., who made six saves. Whitworth took 19
shots in the game. THe Loggers took three shots, two on
goal.
The next game for the
Loggers is on Sunday in Walla Walla, Wash., vs. Whitman at 2:30
p.m.
