Box Score SALEM, Ore. – The Puget Sound men's soccer team exploded for five goals on Sunday to defeat Willamette 5-0 on Sunday. Five different Loggers scored in the route.
The Loggers (8-6, 7-4 NWC) wasted no time in taking a lead over the Bearcats (5-7-2, 4-6-1 NWC). Andrew White scored just 5:18 into the match on an assist from Colin McIntosh. Taylor Rietz scored in the 22nd minute to add to the Loggers lead when Terence Blackburn passed a ball in from the left side and Rietz 's shot banked off the crossbar and in.
Blackburn made it 3-0 in the 56th minute when his shot from six yards out deflected off the goalie and into the net. White earned the assist on the play. Landon Gauthier scored in the 69th minute on a penalty kick and Peter Russell scored in the 75th minute to complete the Loggers scoring.
Chris McDonald made four saves in the match to earn the shutout.
The Loggers return to the road next week to face George Fox and Pacific.
