Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Puget Sound football team fell 44-25 to Pacific on Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium. Thiesen Chang had 10 catches for 144 yards to lead the Loggers (0-8, 0-5 NWC).
The Loggers were the first on the scoreboard with a 43-yard field goal from Everett West with just under five minutes remaining in the first quarter. With 1:16 left in the first quarter, Caleb Roher caught a 44-yard pass to give the Boxers (1-7, 1-4 NWC) a 7-3 lead, which they would not relinquish.
"We had opportunities throught the game to get back into it," commented head coach Jeff Thomas. "Credit goes to Pacific for making the big plays throughout for their first victory."
Pacific scored twice more before the half and preseason All-American Adam Kniffin grabbed his first of two touchdown receptions for the Loggers for a 21-11 score at the half.
Pacific continued to boost its lead in the third quarter as Roher caught a 67-yard TD and Jordan Fukumoto grabbed a 72-yard TD for a 35-11 lead. Kniffin caught his second TD in the quarter as well to narrow the lead to 35-17.
Ross Zuhl hauled in a 24-yard TD catch in the final frame for the Loggers but TC Campbell threw his fifth touchdown pass as well to start the quarter for Pacific. Pacific also tacked on a safety to close out the game with the 44-25 win.
Braden Foley was 29-of-51 for 332 yards and three touchdowns. He also threw an interception. Campbell was 21-of-27 for Pacific with five TDs and 387 yards passing. He also threw one pick.
Kniffin finished with eight catches for 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Zuhl had five catches for 72 yards and one score. Chang had a career-high 148 yards on 10 catches.
The Boxers had a pair of receiver with 100+yards in Fukumoto and Roher. The pair led Pacific to their first win since reviving the program for the 2010 season.
The Loggers have a bye week next Saturday but will return to Baker Stadium to host Whitworth on Nov. 12 at 1 p.m.
