Box Score McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Puget Sound football team suffered a 73-7 loss at No. 5 Linfield on Saturday. The Loggers (0-5, 0-2 NWC) turned the ball over six times in the first half, which Linfield (4-0, 2-0 NWC) turned into a 42-0 halftime lead.
The Loggers touchdown came from freshman Braden Foley on a seven-yard pass to Thiesen Chang. Foley made his Logger debut in the game as one of three quarterbacks to throw a pass in the game.
Foley ended the game with 127 yards on 5-of-7 passing with a TD toss and no interceptions.
Chang led the Loggers with 81 yards receiving on three catches, including a 74-yard catch from Foley. When a Linfield punt pinned the Loggers inside their own one, Foley found Chang down the sideline for a 74-yard strike.
Although the Loggers found an offensive flow late, the Wildcats came out of the gates on fire. They scored on nine of their ten drives in the first half. The defense forced six turnovers, including an interception return for a touchdown. Christian Hanna made the 33-yard return.
At the end of the half, the Linfield special teams also scored a touchdown on a blocked punt. Jeff Walton's punt was blocked deep in Logger territory and Colin Forman picked it up to scamper three yards into the end zone.
The Loggers picked up 201 yards passing on the day, which snaps their seven-game streak with at least 300 yards passing. Linfield outgained the Loggers 490-257 in the game.
The game at Linfield concludes the Loggers three-game road swing. They return home to Baker Stadium next week to host Willamette at 1 p.m.
