Loggers Upset No. 19 PLU To End 2011 Season

PARKLAND, Wash. - Colin McIntosh scored the lone goal in the 1-0 upset for the Puget Sound men's soccer team in the season finale at No. 19 Pacific Lutheran Saturday afternoon.

Terrance Blackburn, along with Marcus Rudd and Peter Russell played in their final game as Loggers, helping the team to its fifth-straight win to end the 2011 campaign. Puget Sound ends the season with an 11-6-0 record and a 10-4-0 record in the Northwest Conference.

Landon Gauthier had the assist on McIntosh's goal in the 13th minute on a corner kick that was tapped into the goal.

The Logger defense was able to hold off the Lutes the rest of the way to earn the shutout.

Chris McDonald made five saves in goal to preserve the shutout. The Lutes (15-3, 12-2 NWC) actually outshot the Loggers 11-8 in the match but couldn't fin a way past McDonald.

The Loggers end their 2011 season but will return nine starters in 2012.
