SALEM, Ore. – Senior Adam Kniffin concluded his record-shattering career with yet another record. The wide receiver from Salem, Ore. became the first Logger to compile 1,000 receiving yards in the Puget Sound football team's 55-0 loss at Willamette.

Kniffin caught 14 passes for 90 yards to finish the 2012 season with 1,002 yards on 77 catches. The yardage total breaks Kniffin's previous season record of 995 yards, which he set in 2011.

"Adam's list of accomplishments is extremely long and this is another feather in his cap as one of the most accomplished receivers in Division III," commented head coach Jeff Thomas. "We will miss him and the other seniors immensely as we begin to work towards next year."

Kniffin was, by far, the Loggers favorite target today as Braden Foley and James Korn found Kniffin for 14 of their 26 combined completions on the day. Kniffin also was responsible for 90 of the Loggers' 200 receiving yards.

Freshman Austin Wagner also continued to impress with another standout performance on the ground. Wagner rushed for 98 yards on 20 rushes.

The Loggers were unable to find the end zone as the Willamette defense held up for the shutout. The Loggers only made their way into the red zone once in the game, which ended when Blaze Rogers picked off a Logger pass in the end zone.

The Bearcats (8-2, 4-2 NWC) found success on the ground and the air, led by quarterback Josh Dean. Dean ran for 33 yards and a pair of scores while he also passed for 358 yards and four more scores. His favorite target was Terrell Marley, who hauled in nine receptions for 119 yards and three touchdowns.

Benny Weischedel also ended up with over 100 yards receiving on eight catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Willamette took the early lead as Dean ran and passed for touchdowns in the first quarter. He duplicated the task in the second quarter to take a 27-0 lead into halftime.

The Bearcats continued to air it out in the second half as Dean found Malley for TD strikes of three and 31 yards. The Bearcats then scored twice more in the fourth quarter on passes of 36 and 30 yards.

Connor Savage and Max Mirande led the Logger defense with eight tackles a piece. Two of Savage's tackles stopped the Bearcats for a loss, including one sack. Jacob Zier also had one sack and recorded six tackles.

The Loggers concluded their 2012 season with the loss but will return a core of starters on both sides of the ball in 2013.
