Field's late goal not enough in 2-1 loss to Redlands

Box Score

TACOMA, Washington – The University of Puget Sound men's soccer team came away with a 2-1 loss against Redlands on Sunday night.

Redlands (1-1-0) gained control of the lead with a goal in the 28th minute, followed later by a second goal in the 75th minute. Puget Sound (0-1-1) senior Oliver Field reacted to cut Redland's lead in half when he found the back of the net in the 83rd minute on a pass from freshman Cameron Lorek. The Loggers fought hard but it was not enough to come back.

Redlands outshot the Loggers (19-8) and had more corner kicks (6-5). Field and Sean Ryan led Puget Sound in shots with two each. Goalkeeper Nathan King recorded six saves.

"Today's game was a case of too little, too late tonight," said men's soccer head coach Reece Olney. "For whatever reason, we were not very good tonight. You have to give Redlands credit for taking the game to us, but we can definitely be better than we were tonight."

Puget Sound will look to bounce back when it opens its home schedule against UC Santa Cruz on Friday, September 5, at 3 p.m.
