Box Score TACOMA, Washington – Sean Ryan scored once and assisted on two goals as the University of Puget Sound men's soccer team won 4-0 against George Fox on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Cameron Lorek scored the first goal for the Loggers on a through ball from Stewart Miller in the 44th minute. As the second half got under way, Andrew White finished a cross from Ryan. White then returned the favor as he crossed a ball for Ryan's goal in the 64th minute. To top off the scoring for Puget Sound, Ezra Kraus sneaked one past the goalkeeper on another ball from Ryan in the 74th minute.
In the first half, the Loggers (5-2-1, 2-0 NWC) battled the Bruins (2-4-1, 0-2 NWC) and were able to get off10 shots. Lorek netted the first Logger goal near the end of the period to give Puget Sound the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Loggers started the second half hot with White's second goal of the season in the 48th minute. Puget Sound continued its offensive drive with a streak of five consecutive corner kicks in a three minute span. Two of the corners by Josh Sonico nearly curved into the goal but were punched out by the Bruin goalkeeper. Twelve minutes later, Ryan scored his fifth goal of the season to bring the Logger lead to 3-0. Kraus then netted his second of the year to secure the 4-0 win for the Loggers.
The Logger defense denied George Fox of many opportunities while goalkeeper Nathan King recorded the shutout, making four saves in the match.
The Loggers outshot the Bruins (18-6) and had more corner kicks (16-3). Each team picked up one yellow card near the end of the match.
Puget Sound continues conference play as it goes on the road to face Willamette on Sept. 27 and Linfield on Sept. 28.
