Men's soccer falls to Pacific

FOREST GROVE, Oregon – The University of Puget Sound men's soccer team fell to Pacific 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Loggers (9-7-2, 7-4-2 NWC) and Boxers (6-11-1, 4-8-1 NWC) played an even first half. Both teams tallied two shots in the opening period.

Pacific took the lead just three minutes into the second half. Keola Norton received a through ball and beat goalkeeper Daniel Kirsch one-on-one to give the home team a 1-0 lead. The Loggers went on the offensive, outshooting the Boxers 6-3 the rest of the game while pushing for an equalizer. However, the team was unable to find a breakthrough, and ultimately fell.

The Loggers outshot Pacific 9-6, while also taking more corner kicks (6-3). Benjamin Whitham and Josh Sonico led the squad with three shots each, while goalkeeper Daniel Kirsch (9-6-1) made two saves.

Puget Sound will next play Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, November 7. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
