Box Score MCMINNVILLE, Oregon – Ezra Kraus and Brandon Reyes scored, as the University of Puget Sound men's soccer team defeated Linfield, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon.
The first half proved to be a fairly even affair through the first half hour. The Loggers (6-2-2, 3-1-2 NWC) jumped ahead in the 36th minute. Ezra Kraus had the ball on the right side of the box, and fired a shot into the net for his league leading sixth goal of the year.
The Loggers increased their lead in the 76th minute, when Brandon Reyes collected a deflected shot and found the back of the net for his first goal of the year. Linfield (0-9-2, 0-5-1 NWC) trimmed the lead to 2-1 in the 81st minute on a Brian DeGrandmont goal.
Linfield outshot Puget Sound 17-7, while Puget Sound took more corner kicks (7-4). Kraus had three shots to lead the Loggers. Goalkeeper Jacob Palmer (2-0-2) played all 90 minutes, making five saves, and allowing one goal.
Puget Sound's next match will be Saturday, October 8, when the team travels to Pacific Lutheran. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
