Loggers downed by No. 23 Linfield

McMINNVILLE, Oregon – The Puget Sound football team lost at No. 23 Linfield, 77-22, Saturday afternoon.

Puget Sound (3-2, 2-1 NWC) senior wideout AJ Johnson finished with 11 catches for 63 yards. Johnson entered the game as the NCAA's leader (all divisions) in receptions per game (12.5).

Fellow senior wide receiver Jewell Day needed just four receptions to reach 100 yards for the first time in 2019. Silas Washington ran for his third touchdown in two weeks, and Collin Heimbach put the Loggers on the board at the end of the first half with his third receiving touchdown of the season.

The Logger defense entered the game as the Northwest Conference leader in sacks (13), and Puget Sound totaled two sacks against Linfield (4-1, 2-0 NWC). Jordan Ubaldo and Zachary Meyer each dropped the Wildcats' quarterback behind the line.

The Loggers committed four turnovers on three interceptions and a lost fumble. It could have been worse, as Puget Sound fumbled five times in the game.

Puget Sound returns to Baker Stadium to host Pacific Lutheran Saturday, Oct. 19, for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
