Men's soccer suffers 2-1 loss in final seconds at Willamette

SALEM, Oregon – The Puget Sound men's soccer team suffered a stunning 2-1 loss at Willamette Sunday afternoon.

With the scored tied 1-1, Willamette (8-3-3, 5-3-1 NWC) headed in the game-winning goal off a corner kick with less than 10 seconds left in regulation.

Cale Spence gave the Loggers (8-3-3, 5-3-1 NWC) a 1-0 lead by scoring his sixth goal of the year off an assist by Angel Herrera-Flores in the ninth minute.

The lead lasted just 12 minutes until the Bearcats found the back of the net.

Puget Sound put four shots in goal in all, while Willamette managed five. The physical game resulted in 37 fouls, 23 of which were committed by the Bearcats.

The Loggers return home to host Whitworth Saturday, Oct. 26, at 2:30 p.m.
