Box Score TACOMA, Washington - The Puget Sound men's soccer team erupted in its second match of the season, scoring twice in the first en route to a 3-0 victory over Cal Lutheran in Baker Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Michael Saffari scored his first goal of the year in the 32nd minute, rebounding the ball from a free kick by Marko Babiak and striking it into the back of the net. Later in the first half, Lincoln Schell buried a header off a Sean Hamel corner kick to the far post.
At halftime, the Loggers (1-0-1) were up 2-0.
In the 51st minute, Ryan Smith streaked down the left side and crossed the ball to Luke Murdock in the middle of the 18-yard box. Murdock buried one touch into the net to put the Loggers ahead, 3-0.
The Loggers' defense was unbreakable and Ethan Stern-Ellis had two saves, keeping the Kingsmen (0-1-0) scoreless throughout the game.
Puget Sound will be back in action to host Multnomah, Saturday, Sept. 7, at 3:30 p.m. on East Field.
