McMINNVILLE, Oregon – The Puget Sound volleyball team one-upped itself in a three-set triumph (25-22, 25-23, 25-19) at Linfield Saturday evening.
One day after hitting a season-best .270 in a win at Lewis & Clark, the Loggers (13-6, 7-3 NWC) attacked at a .284 clip to sweep the Wildcats (4-11, 0-10 NWC).
The Loggers' balanced attacked was led by nine kills from
Katelyn Chekian, and eight kills by
Avery Allemann.
Jordan Holman and
Katherine Carley put away even kills, each.
Jenna Miller totaled a team-high 16 assists in the winning effort.
Linfield held a 13-9 lead in the first set, but kills by Carley and Chekian, coupled with an ace
Aliah Ayau and a Wildcat error, allowed Puget Sound to tie the score, 13-13. Puget Sound closed out the opening set with a 5-2 run.
The Wildcats appeared to take control of the second set with a 19-17 lead, but a kill by Chekian tied it up at 21 all. Following consecutive points by Linfield, Puget Sound won the set with a 4-0 run.
The Loggers have a midweek matchup against Pacific Lutheran in Memorial Fieldhouse Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m.
