TACOMA, Washington – The No. 21/19 Puget Sound women's soccer team continued its undefeated season in Baker Stadium Sunday afternoon as the Loggers beat Pacific, 1-0.
The Loggers' (14-0-2, 10-0-2 NWC) defense was outstanding in the first half despite opting to go for a more attacking style formation. Puget Sound decided to have only three defenders in their back line, but was still able to hold Pacific (5-9-1, 3-8-1 NWC) to only two shots on goal.
Just before the half was set to come to an end,
Sienna Kloss struck a ball that hit the crossbar. Puget Sound and Pacific went into the half tied, 0-0.
In the 61
st minute,
Ava Cholakian tight-roped the end line and delivered her team-leading fifth assist into the box that was smashed home by
Radhika Webster Schultz for the goal. With her goal, Webster Schultz is now tied with
Kylee Roath for the team lead in scoring (6).
In the 76
th minute,
Tess Carden nearly put the Loggers up 2-0, but her shot hit the left post.
Chaylea Tome and the Loggers recorded another clean sheet, giving her 12 shutouts on the season.
Puget Sound recorded 16 shots to go along with four corner kicks.
The Loggers will be back home next Saturday (Oct. 30) when they take on Willamette (5-11, 4-8 NWC) at 12 p.m.
