TACOMA, Washington – Kennedy Brown scored a team-high 17 points to lead the Puget Sound women's basketball team to a 74-49 win over Linfield in Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night. It was the first Northwest Conference game of the season, and the eighth consecutive win for the Loggers.

Brown shot 7-for-12 from the floor in 15 efficient minutes.
Sophie Nilsson added 16 poiunts in the winning effort. Thirteen Loggers (8-1, 1-0 NWC) in all put up at least two points against the Wildcats (0-8, 0-1 NWC).

The Loggers held a narrow 19-17 lead after the first quarter, but a driving layup by
Paige Gerhart 45 seconds into the second quarter started a big run for the Loggers. Gerhart's bucket gave Puget Sound a 23-19 lead. After a defensive stop, Brown followed with a driving layup of her own to push the lead to 25-19.

That lead reached double-digits, 35-24, when Nilsson scored in the paint with 4:14 left in the half.

Despite the lopsided score, Puget Sound shot only 17.9-percent from distance. Often times the Loggers' defense was their best offense. Puget Sound forced Linfield into 29 turnovers for 36 points.
