Spence lifts Loggers over NCAA D-II Western Washington, 1-0

Box Score

BELLINGHAM, Washington – Cale Spence's fifth goal of the season lifted the Puget Sound men's soccer team to a 1-0 win at NCAA D-II Western Washington Saturday evening.

For the Vikings – the defending Great Northwest Athletic Conference champions – it was their first game of the season.

Spence entered the weekend tied with teammate Marko Babiak for the Northwest Conference lead in scoring. But in the 61st minute at Western Washington, Spence buried his fifth goal of the year.

Puget Sound's defense held the Vikings to just one shot on goal – and Andrew Matheny was there to make the stop.

The Loggers have one more game this season – a battle against another NCAA D-II opponent at Seattle Pacific, April 10.
