Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Puget Sound takes down No. 8 Wheaton, 1-0

TACOMA, Washington – In a statement game before the Northwest Conference begins, the Puget Sound women's soccer team took down No. 8 Wheaton, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in Baker Stadium.

Genny Jilka tapped home a goal in the 32nd minute on what ended up being the game-winning goal. The goal came off of a mad scramble from Tess Carden's corner kick. Multiple Puget Sound and Wheaton players were fighting for position just in front of the Thunder's net when the ball ricocheted to Jilka who finished with a tap-in goal.

Chaylea Tome came up big in the net once again, totaling four saves on the day, while posting yet another clean sheet on the season. Tome has not allowed a goal in all 360 minutes this season.

Puget Sound looks to continue its early-season dominance next weekend when it begins the NWC slate at home against Whitman Saturday, Sept. 18, at 12 p.m.
