Roath's long-distance strike gives Puget Sound a 1-0 win over Whitman

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's soccer team won its first Northwest Conference game of the season, and improved to 5-0 overall, with a 1-0 win over Whitman on East Field Saturday afternoon. 

Shortly after the second half got underway, Puget Sound was on the attack when a clearance by the Whitman defense found Roath well several yards outside of the box. Roath took a touch and fired a rocket of a shot into the lower corner of the net for a goal in the 47th minute. 

Chaylea Tome recorded her fifth shutout of the season, as the Blues managed just two shots on target. The Loggers attempted nine shots overall, four of which were on fame.

Puget Sound will look to keep the win streak going when it take ons another NWC opponent - Whitworth - Sunday, Sept. 19 at 12 p.m. on East Field.
