FOREST GROVE, Oregon –
Jordan Holman matched her career-high for kills in a game, but the Puget Sound volleyball team lost at Pacific, 3-2 (25-17, 20-25, 20-25, 25-22, 16-14), Friday night.
Â
Holman finished the contest with 18 kills and just two errors. She also added 17 digs, which were matched by
Abby McLeran. Holman had 18 kills twice in 2019 – once against Lewis & Clark, and once against George Fox.
Â
Logan Winn totaled 22 assists, and
Sarah Blumenfeld had 21.
Â
After losing the first set, the Loggers bounced back to win the next two. Pacific never trailed in the fourth set, but the Loggers made a push to end the match in the frame.
Â
Trailing 21-17, a kill by
Maddie Klopcic was the first of three-straight points for the Loggers. Holman added consecutive kills in the run, but the 21-20 deficit was as close as the Loggers would get in the fourth.
Â
In the fifth set, the teams went point-for-point until an error by the Boxers gave the Loggers a 10-8 lead. A kill by
Katherine Carley put the Loggers on the brink of victory, 13-10. But Pacific went on a 4-0 run to eventually win the set and the match.
Â
Puget Sound's road stretch continues Friday, Oct. 1, at Whitworth.
