TACOMA, Washington –
Marko Babiak's fourth goal of the season in the second overtime against Whitworth gave the Puget Sound men's soccer team a dramatic 1-0 victory over the Pirates in Baker Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Babiak dribbled down the left side of the pitch, put a series of moves on his defender, and fired off a left-footed strike across the face of goal into the far-right lower corner.
The Loggers and Pirates were in a physical match, with three yellow cards being handed out between the teams. Neither team found the back of the net in regulation despite 19 shots for the Loggers and 13 for the Pirates.
Puget Sound had a resounding 12 corner kicks to go along with six big saves from
Andrew Matheny.
With this result, the Loggers (3-3-1, 2-0-1 NWC) are unblemished through three games in conference play as they get ready to take on Whitman (5-2-0, 1-2 NWC), Sunday, Sept. 26, at 2:30 p.m in Baker Stadium.
