TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's soccer team suffered its first defeat in Northwest Conference play when it fell to Whitman, 2-1, Saturday afternoon in Baker Stadium.
The Blues got on the scoring sheet in the fifth minute of the game and rode that momentum into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Whitman's early scoring didn't stop there, as it produced another goal just four minutes into the second half.
The Loggers put up a valiant effort in the second half as
Cale Spence executed from the penalty spot in the 83
rd minute, bringing Puget Sound within one. The Loggers weren't able to find the back of the net in the final seven minutes of the game.
Puget Sound (3-4-1, 2-1-1 NWC) will look to bounce back on the road next weekend when it takes on Willamette (5-2, 3-1 NWC), Saturday, Oct. 2, at 2:30 p.m.
