Washington adds to NWC lead in rushing touchdowns at George Fox

NEWBERG, Oregon – Silas Washington scored his conference-leading seventh rushing touchdown of the season, but the Puget Sound football team lost at George Fox, 51-7, Saturday afternoon.

Washington punched in a two-yard score to tie the game, 7-7, late in the first quarter. Puget Sound's defense and special teams set up the sore. In their second possession of the game, the Bruins were forced to go three-and-out. They lined up to punt from their own 33-yard line, but Amarian Culpepper broke through to block the punt. Lucas Varela picked up the loose ball and returned it down to the George Fox three-yard line.

Sophomore quarterback Mason Binning attempted a career-high 40 passes, and he finished the day with 143 yards through the air. Izaiah Jerenz finished the game with 69 receiving yards on six catches, and Joe Gallagher had 64 yards on eight catches.

Gallagher, a freshman, has 27 receptions in his last three games.

Culpepper led the Loggers in tackles with 11. Gannon Griffin recorded a sack, and Matai Suitonu came up with Puget Sound's first interception of the season.

The Loggers return home Saturday, Oct. 22, to host Lewis & Clark at 1 p.m.
