TACOMA, Washington – Despite being more efficient on offense and putting up better defensive totals, the Puget Sound volleyball team lost to George Fox, 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-13), in Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night.

The Loggers attacked at a .171 clip and held the Bruins to a .154 hitting percentage. Puget Sound also totaled more blocks (7-6) and more digs (114-108).

The first set foreshadowed a closely contested match throughout. The Loggers had a 20-16 advantage when the Bruins went on a 6-1 run to take a one-point lead. Puget Sound benefited from a couple of George Fox errors down the stretch, but the Bruins closed out the opening set with a 3-1 run.

The Loggers cruised to a 25-19 win in the second set, but George Fox answered right back to win the third.

The Bruins began the fourth set with a 4-0 run, but the Loggers weren't going away. Puget Sound trailed 15-13 when it went on a 4-0 run to claim its first lead of the set. The teams were tied, 24-24, when a kill by
Maddie Klopcic and a Bruins error gave way to the decisive fifth set.

Avery Allemann broke a 5-5 tie in the fifth set with a kill, and
Hadley Haselden and
Katelyn Chekian immediately followed with kills of their own to give the Loggers an 8-5 lead. A few points later the lead increased to 10-6 thanks to another kill by Haselden.

From that point, however, the Bruins went on a 9-3 run to win the match.

Sara Olsson finished the game with a career-high 23 kills, and
Maddie Klopcic added 14 kills. Allemann's night included 12 kills, and Haselden finished with a career-high 10 kills.

Logan Winn tallied a career-high 54 assists, marking her first-ever match with at least 50 kills.
