Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

MacLennan scores twice in largest margin of victory since 2008

TACOMA, Washington – Five Loggers combined for six goals as the Puget Sound women's soccer team dominated Pacific, 6-0, Sunday afternoon.

It was none other the team's leading scorer, Ava Cholakian, who opened the floodgates less than six minutes into the game. From the left side of the field, Kalina Cordero moved the ball up to Radhika Webster Schultz at the top corner of the 18-yard box. Webster Schultz one-touched a pass to Cholakian in the middle of the box, and Cholakian buried her 13th goal of the season into the top-left corner.

One minute later, Carden fed a through-ball to Layla Santos, who needed just one touch to beat the keeper for her first goal of the season.

The Loggers made it a 3-0 edge in the 15th minute when Webster Schultz found Rylee MacLennan streaking down the right side of the box. Similarly to Santos, MacLennan one-touched her first goal of the season. She wasn't done there.

A little over 10 minutes into the second half, MacLennan scored an unassisted goal to put the Loggers up, 4-0.

Tess Carden (62') and Zoe Fowler (85') also scored in the big win.

Puget Sound's defense held the opposition to just one shot on goal for the second consecutive game. The Loggers have nine shutouts this season.

Sunday's game was Puget Sound's largest margin of victory since 2008, when the Loggers beat Pacific Lutheran, 8-0.

The Loggers are in sole possession of first place in the Northwest Conference. They travel to Oregon next week to take on Linfield (Oct. 14) and George Fox (Oct. 16).
