PARKLAND, Washington – The No. 20/15 Puget Sound women's basketball team erupted in the fourth quarter to beat Coast Guard Academy, 94-74, during the Northwest Holiday Tournament host by Pacific Lutheran Saturday evening.

The Loggers held a narrow 57-55 lead after three quarters, but they opened the final quarter with their foot on the gas. After the Bears tied the game at 57-57,
Samantha Swartout knocked down a 3-pointer to reclaim the lead. Puget Sound then forced Coast Guard into another turnover, and Swartout followed again with yet another trey.

Two minutes into the final quarter
Kennedy Brown came up with an offensive rebound, and it led to an easy two points for Swartout – pushing Puget Sound's lead to 68-58.

Three of the Loggers following four possessions resulted in a 3-pointer by Brown and two treys by Grace Pytinia-Hillier. The sharp shooting gave the Loggers a 77-65 lead with six minutes left in regulation, and Puget Sound led by double digits for the rest of the game.

Sophie Nilsson scored 17 points for the second consecutive game, and she dished out a season-high six assists. Swartout totaled 16 points, while Brown and Pytynia-Hillier both scored 14 points.

The Loggers soon hop a flight to Texas where they take on a couple of nationally-ranked teams. Puget Sound tips off at No. 15/12 Mary Hardin Baylor Tuesday, Dec. 20, and then the Loggers take on No. 4/4 Trinity (Tex.) Wednesday, Dec. 21.
