SPOKANE, Washington – Emily Moore hit her first-career home run at Whitworth Sunday afternoon, but the Puget Sound softball team lost both games of a doubleheader Sunday.
Â
Moore's homer was part of a four-run second inning in the second game.
Abbi Wong and
Lauren Rice both reached base by drawing walks. With two outs on the board,
Kimora Phillips tripped a triple to give the Loggers a 2-0 lead.
Â
Moore, a freshman, then doubled the lead by belting a home run to centerfield.
Â
However, Whitworth rallied to win, 6-5. The Pirates also won the first game, 14-1.
Â
The Loggers are off from competing next week, and return to action at home, April 2-3, against Pacific.
