TACOMA, Washington – Jonas Kim hit a grand slam, and four Loggers finished with multiple hits, but the Puget Sound baseball team lost a non-conference game against Pacific, 19-11, on Logger Field Saturday afternoon.
Pacific jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. The first two Boxer batters were retired consecutively, but Pacific put together a big two-out rally.
The Loggers struck back the very next inning. Trailing 4-1 entering the bottom of the second, William Gross walked and Kyle Strash was hit by a pitch. A single by Dylan Joyce allowed Gross to score and cut the deficit in half.
Shane Himeda then drew a walk to load the bases, and Kim belted a grand slam to left field, giving Puget Sound a 6-4 lead.
However, Pacific rallied for seven runs in the fifth inning and never looked back.
Kim finished the game 3-for-3 with five RBI. Strash went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored three runs. Himeda also finished 2-for-3 at the dish, and Jacob Ota went 2-for-2 with a couple of RBI.
Puget Sound's 2022 season finale is Sunday, May 1, when the Loggers host Willamette at approximately 2:30 p.m.?
