TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team began the 2022 Northwest Conference season by cruising to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-23) win over Whitman in Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night.

Katelyn Chekian posted her fourth double-double of the season with 12 digs and a team-high 11 kills.
Avery Allemann added 10 kills in the win, marking her fourth contest this season with double-digit kills.

Chloe Akionna-Bannan had a team-high 12 digs, and
Logan Winn put up 35 assists.

Whitman came out to a 5-3 lead in the first set, but Winn served the Loggers to a 5-0 run. That run included three consecutive service aces by Winn. Although it was close, the Loggers did not trail for the rest of the set. Whitman tied the first set, 22-22, but
Jena Williams put away a kill, Whitman committed an error, and
Maddie Klopcic closed the set with a kill assisted by Winn.

Whitman held a 13-11 edge in the third set, but that's when Puget Sound went on a 4-0 run to take the lead. The run included kills by Chekian, Allemann, and Williams.

Puget Sound was 24-21 when Whitman put together a 3-o run, but a block-assist by Allemann and Chekian ended the contest.
