TACOMA, Washington - Ava Cholakian scored two goals as the Puget Sound women's soccer team beat Linfield, 3-0, in the first Northwest Conference game of the season in Baker Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Radhika Webster Schultz netted the game's first goal in the sixth minute. She received a pass down the middle of the field from Layla Santos, and used one touch to beat Linfield's last defender. Webster Schultz then used a second touch to beat the keeper for her second goal of the season.
Cholakian scored her fifth goal of the season from 25-yards out in the 25th minute, lifting the ball over the keeper's head and underneath the crossbar.Â
Ten minutes later, Leila Hausia-Haugen drew a foul in the box, and Cholakian buried the penalty kick for her team-leading sixth goal of 2022. That total already matches her single-season career high.Â
The Puget Sound defense limited Linfield to only two shots for the game, both of which came in the second half. Chaylea Tome recorded her fourth shutout of the season.Â
The Loggers remain at home to host George Fox Sunday, Sept. 18, at 12 p.m.
