TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team began its 2022 campaign with a couple of convincing wins in the Puget Sound Premiere Friday in Memorial Fieldhouse.
Puget Sound 3, Benedictine 1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-21, 25-16)
Logan Winn had a career-high 34 assists to help three Loggers post double-digits kills against the Eagles.
Katelyn Chekian finished with a team-high 11 kills, while
Maddie Klopcic and
Jena Williams both finished with 10.
Freshman
Hadley Haselden began her collegiate career with nine kills.
In the Loggers' defensive efforts, Avery Allenmann totaled five blocks. Chekian (13) and Winn (10) came away with double-digit digs.
The Loggers attacked at a .254 clip in the season-opening win.
Winn's 34 assists are the most by a Logger in a match since
Sarah Blumenfeld had 55 against Lewis & Clark in Oct. 2019.
Puget Sound 3, Salve Regina 1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 25-15)
The Loggers stayed hot by hitting .239 against the Seahawks, as
Avery Allemann led the way with a team-high 14 kills in the four-set win, and she added three blocks.
Jena Williams came up with 13 kills in the winning effort, and
Sara Olsson finished with 12.
Logan Winn continued to serve up the offense, tallying 31 assists.
Chloe Akionna-Bannan posted a match-high 17 digs.
The Puget Sound Premiere concludes Saturday, Sept. 3. The day begins with Puget Sound hosting Pacific Lutheran for a non-conference match at 9 a.m.
