WALLA WALLA, Washington – The No. 17/12 Puget Sound women's basketball team lost its first Northwest Conference game of the season at Whitman, 61-50, Friday night.

Puget Sound entered halftime down by three points, 27-24.
Jordyn Reverman provided the opening bucket of the second half, cutting the Loggers' deficit to just one point. Whitman promptly answered with a 3-pointer, but the Loggers kept pace when
Sophie Nilsson drilled a trey.

The teams exchanged a couple more baskets before the Blues went on a 7-2 run to take a 39-33 lead.

Nilsson began the fourth quarter by hitting another 3-pointer, this time pulling the Loggers to within 41-38. But then Whitman went on an insurmountable 9-0 run to pull away for the win.

Nilsson scored a team-high 16 points.

The Loggers shot 26.1-percent from the floor – their second lowest mark of the season.

Puget Sound remains in first place in the NWC with an 8-1 conference record. The Loggers aim to bounce back at Whitworth Saturday, Jan. 28, at 4 p.m.
