NEWBERG, Ore. — Puget Sound's volleyball team succumbed to the George Fox University Bruins, losing 3-1 on Friday night with set scores of 22-25, 25-19, 18-25, and 22-25.
In the opening set, the Loggers allowed the Bruins to take an early five-point lead at 8-3. However, they managed to tie it up and went on a nine-point streak, securing a 15-9 lead. The Loggers held the advantage until the Bruins rallied to win 25-22. The Loggers committed six errors.
The second set proved to be the most successful one for the Loggers, with only two lead changes throughout. They took the lead midway through the set and held onto it, capitalizing on eight errors by the Bruins.
The third and fourth sets were dominated by the Bruins, featuring multiple lead changes until the Bruins clinched the victory, concluding the match one set early. Notably, Mia Fedota delivered a stellar performance, going 4/4 on kills in the third set and 3/3 on kills, along with a block, in the fourth set.
Mia Fedota and Sara Olsson both registered 10 kills, while Katelyn Chekian impressed with six service aces, and Logan Winn contributed 32 assists for the Loggers. Libero Samantha Keightley recorded 24 digs. In total, the Loggers amassed 43 kills and 76 digs for the night.
The Loggers will face the Linfield Wildcats tomorrow night, October 14th, at 6 p.m. in McMinnville, Oregon.
