TACOMA, Wash. – The women's basketball team dominated with a 24-point run to start the 83-38 victory against Manchester University on Thursday afternoon in Memorial Fieldhouse. Almost every Logger scored against Manchester and more than half of the scored points came from off the bench.
Jordyn Reverman led the scoring with 15 points going 6-for-10 from the floor. Freshman
Katie Anderson followed with 10 points, while
Paige Oh made six assists.
Kennedy Brown was 2-for-3 from beyond the arc finishing with nine points.
Emme Eisenman dominated with eight boards and
Autumn Hill had five rebounds, six points and three blocks.
In the first quarter, the Loggers started with a full-court press that stunned the Manchester Spartans knocking off multiple consecutive missed shots, and forcing eight turnovers. The Loggers shot for 63.6% in the first period adding 18 points from turnovers.
The Spartans fought back in the second quarter almost matching Puget Sounds scoring with 13 points to the Loggers 15 points, but it wasn't enough to get much closer as the Loggers held a 49-16 lead going into halftime.
In the third period, the Loggers continued to break farther away from the Spartans outscoring them 22-5 and retaining a 42.9 shooting percentage. The Loggers biggest lead was in the last seconds of the third quarter when they were up by 50 points. The Spartans finished the game outshooting the Loggers in the fourth quarter 17-12.
The Loggers scored 40 points from turnovers and dominated on defense holding the Spartans to nearly no points in the first and third periods.
The Loggers have the next week off for the holiday winter break and return home to face Corban University at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30.
