PORTLAND, Oregon – The Loggers are Northwest Conference Champions!
The No. 21/16 Puget Sound women's basketball team beat Lewis & Clark, 91-57, on the road in the regular-season finale Saturday evening, finishing conference play with a 14-2 NWC record. Puget Sound and Whitman are co-champions, but the Blues are the No. 1 seed for the NWC Tournament by virtue of a sixth-tier tiebreaker.
It is the Loggers' first NWC title since the 2016-17 season.
Paige Gerhart scored a career-high 22 points off the bench, shooting 6-for-12 from the floor and 4-for-7 from 3-point range.
Samantha Swartout was also in double figures off the bench, netting 13 points in 21 minutes.
Kennedy Brown scored 15 points, and
Katie Minnehan finished with 12 points and six steals.
The Loggers will take on Pacific in the first round of the NWC Tournament Friday, Feb. 24, in Walla Walla, Washington.
