NEWBERG, Oregon – Savanna Smith hit her third home run of the season, but the Puget Sound softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at George Fox Monday. The Loggers lost the first game, 8-3, and the final score of the second game was 6-2.
Â
The Loggers were held scoreless through the first five innings of the first game, but they put up three runs in the sixth.
Hailee Ueyama led off by getting hit by a pitch, and
Emily Moore followed with a single. Two batters later, Smith cleared the bases and drove in three runs with a single swing.
Â
In the second game, the Bruins took a 4-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back.
Â
The Loggers loaded the bases in the third inning when
Jazzy Allen, Emma Kessler, and Ueyama all reached with base hits. Moore hit a groundout RBI to plate the Loggers' first run of the game.
Â
In the fifth inning, a walk drawn by Kessler followed by a double from Hope Flieschman put two runners in scoring position. Kessler scored when Ueyama grounded out to second base.
Â
The Loggers have another trip to Oregon later this week when they take on Pacific, April 1-2.
