TACOMA, Washington – Sam Bland pitched the first complete game of her collegiate career, but the Puget Sound softball team lost the second game of a Northwest Conference doubleheader against Willamette, 3-0, at home Saturday afternoon.

Bland tossed all seven innings and allowed just six hits. The freshman from Puyallup, Washington, walked three and struck out two.

The Loggers got off to a promising start when
Hailee Ueyama led off the bottom of the first inning with a single, and she promptly stole second base. However, Ueyama was thrown out at third trying to tag up on a fly ball.

In the second inning
Jazzy Allen hit a one-out single and she moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. A groundout allowed Allen to move to third base, but she was left stranded.

Puget Sound put two runners in scoring position in the sixth inning.
Mikayla Newman led off with a single and then she stole second base. Newman advanced to third on a flyout, and then
Emily Moore reached base with an infield single. An errant throw on the play allowed Moore to take second base, but Newman remain at third. The Loggers left the two runners stranded in scoring position.

Puget Sound lost the first game of the doubleheader, 13-2. Ueyama, Moore,
Hope Fleischman, and Ema Kelser each hit a double in the game. Kesler accounted for the Loggers' two runs with a two-run double in the fourth.

The Loggers and Bearcats have another doubleheader Sunday, March 5, starting at 11 a.m.
