Savanna Smith won for the seventh time in the circle as the Puget Sound softball team won the series finale at Pacific Lutheran Saturday afternoon.

Puget Sound 8, Pacific Lutheran 4
The second game of Saturday's doubleheader began with an exciting two-out rally for the Loggers. After the first couple of Loggers were retired in the first inning,
Jessica Moore singled up the middle, and
Savanna Smith drover her home with a double to right field.
Â
Kendall Gantz promptly followed with an RBI single to give the Loggers a 2-0 lead.

It became a 3-0 lead when
Emily Moore hit a sac fly that scored
Hope Fleischman in the second inning, but the Loggers did the most damage in the fourth inning. Fleischman and Newman began the rally with consecutive hits, and a wild pitch allowed them both to move up one base.

Kimora Phillips drew a walk to load the bases, and
Hailee Ueyama plated two runs with a double to centerfield.
Jessica Moore tacked on another run with a sac fly, and Smith capped the rally with an RBI single that scored Ueyama.

The fireworks continued early in the top of the fifth inning when
Mikayla Newman led off by blasting her second home run of the season.
Â
Smith totaled three hits in the game, while Gantz, Newman, and Phillips each came away with two. Smith also tossed her 11
th complete game of the season, allowing just four earned runs.

Puget Sound 4, Pacific Lutheran 8
The Loggers had a 4-2 lead through two innings, but Puget Sound was held off the scoreboard for the rest of the game as it lost to PLU, 8-4.

Puget Sound allowed two runs in the first inning, but Logger bats doubled that total the next half inning.
Jazzy Allen and Hope Flieschman both reached base via errors to start the rally, and then
Sofia Gonzales drew a walk to load the bases.

Two batters later,
Emily Moore drew a walk to force in a run. A base hit by
Hailee Ueyama, compounded by a PLU error, allowed the Loggers to score three runs on one play.

Puget Sound returns home for its season finale Tuesday, April 18, to host Linfield for a make-up doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
