PORTLAND, Oregon – Davis Franklin struck out a career-high 12 batters and hit his first-career home run to lead the Puget Sound baseball team to a dominant 15-1 Northwest Conference win at Lewis & Clark Wednesday afternoon. The game was a make-up from the Feb. 25-26.
Franklin worked 6.1 innings on the mound, allowing just five hits and a walk. After yielding a leadoff single in the bottom of the first inning, Franklin struck out the next three batters. The sophomore added two more strike outs in the second inning, and he struck out the side in the fifth inning.
Franklin got the job done with his bat, too. Batting fifth in the lineup, his two-run jack in the eighth inning pushed Puget Sound's lead to 13-1. He finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate and scored twice.
Makana Murashige belted his fourth home run of the season. His three-run shot in the fourth inning gave Puget Sound an 8-1 lead.
Cody Hirano matched Franklin with three hits for the day.

Gabe Huante, and
Nathan Blocher collected two hits, each.
Joyce drove in a couple of runs, giving him 121 RBI for his Puget Sound career. He is 10 RBI away from matching the school record held by Olin Wick '04.
