TACOMA, Wash. – Puget Sound Volleyball opened up the 2023 Northwest Conference schedule with a commanding straight set victory against Linfield University with scores of 25-10, 25-19, and 25-15 on Friday night. The win brings the Logger's record to 8-1, with Puget Sound Volleyball receiving votes in this week's national rankings.
In the first set, The Loggers got off to a quick 5-0 lead with the service game of
Samantha Keightley. The Wildcats struggled to find their rhythm with the Loggers extending the lead 20-4 before closing it out with a score of 25-10. Senior
Katelyn Chekian delivered four kills with the team hitting .304 and setter
Randi Rush providing seven assists.
The Loggers continued their momentum to start the second set before Linfield made a mid-set run. The Loggers finished it off with a balanced attack on 10 kills and the final set score of 25-19.
Puget Sound closed out the match in the third set with a score of 25-15 limiting the Wildcats to an overall hitting percentage of .059 on the night. 14 Logger players saw the court with Rush anchoring the team for a total of 23 assists.
Sara Olsson led the Loggers with five kills.
The Logger remain at home with a Saturday match-up against George Fox University at 6:00 p.m.
