Johnson, Olsson lead the Loggers in kills for a 3-2 victory

TACOMA, Wash. – On Saturday night, Sara Olsson and Sarah Johnsen led the Loggers with 16 kills each, marking a season high for both players and resulting in a 3-2 win against George Fox University Bruins (28-20, 25-22, 25-16, 16-25, 15-9). The Loggers are now 9-1 on the season.

The night started slow in Memorial Fieldhouse, with the Loggers narrowly losing the first set with a tight 28-30 result. The Bruins came away with 17 kills against the Loggers' 12.   

Puget Sound rebounded in the second set behind the hitting strength of Sara Olsson and Erin Fagan topping George Fox 25-22. Samantha Keightley helped create scoring opportunities for the Loggers with five digs in set two.

The Loggers continued their momentum in the third set with a score of 25-16 behind a .333 attack while holding George Fox to .077. In the fourth set, George Fox controlled the game throughout, ultimately coming away with the win by a score of 20-25.

It all came down to the fifth set, with the Loggers exploding for the 15-9 win. Setter Randy Rush ended the night with 50 assists. Puget Sound Volleyball moves to 2-0 in its first weekend of Northwest Conference action.

Puget Sound is in action next on Wednesday, September 20th at 7 p.m. when they travel to Pacific Lutheran University.
