TACOMA, Wash. – Sienna Kloss netted her first goal of the season, serving as the game-winning play in a 3-1 triumph over the Whitworth University Pirates on Sunday. This win marks the fourth victory for the women's soccer team, and bringing their Northwest Conference record to 2-0.
Kya Scott initiated the scoring by assisting in the first goal, followed by finding the back of the net herself merely minutes later, courtesy of a corner kick from
Mimi Carrier-Berndt. Although the Pirates responded with a shot from Laura Pierson,
Megan Schellhase managed to deflect it from the goal, only for Kylee Russell to capitalize on the opportunity and score the first goal for Whitworth.
The final goal came from
Ava Cholakian in the 55
th minute with a solo kick straight up the middle approximately 25 yards deep, over the goalies head and into the net, sealing the victory for the Loggers.
Megan Schellhase demonstrated an outstanding performance, recording five saves, while the team collectively recorded eight shots on goal.
The teams next game will take place on September 23
rd at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
